Renovations for The New Year!

We’ve been busy here in Nyapea! God has blessed us with the means to have started work on renovating the school to make it more accommodating before we open our doors to staff training on January 9th and to the students on February 2nd.
One of the most important renovations currently underway is running electricity out to each building. Since our students are deaf it’s important that they have enough light to be able to communicate at any time, whether that be day or night.
Along with putting in the electricity we’re building a new grass roof for one of the faculty houses, digging new latrines, renovating the bathing stalls for both boys and girls, and adding a partition to our main classroom to create two classrooms. Even as I type there are workers laying brick, running wires, and hammering in nails.
At the very top of our list of improvements but yet to come is a water well and water system to provide fresh water for both drinking and bathing. Currently the majority of our water is either from rainfall or gathered from a creek in the valley below the school by the children and faculty and has to be boiled before it can be used for drinking.

If you’re interested in joining us on our journey or learning about ways you can help the school grow send us an email at stfrancisdeaf@gmail.com to be added to our email list.

God Bless,
